Movie Making

A storyboard from a Western TV show

At the moment we are working on making our movies for our Exhibition groups. A few groups are having some trouble with how to develop their stories and scripts. Make sure you write out a script or a story in full, then develop and draw the back grounds and characters. Finally your group needs to make a storyboard (there are copies at the front of the classroom) so everyone knows what is happening and what will happen next. Above you will find a short movie by the British director Phil Traill. After you have watched the movie click on the link below and you will see how Phil put the movie together. they are both very short movies but you should learn alot about how to make your movie. 

Some Reminder Dates!

Here are some dates that you can't forget:

Wednesday 21st March: Developmental talks, Portfolio up-to-date ready for talks (no school)

Friday 30th March: Maths Assessment due (all work handed up in a folder)

Wednesday 4th April: Exhibition evening (more information about the nigh to come, but it will start around 18.00)
Thursday 5th April: Exhibition day for whole school to visit (8.30-13.00). Last day of school before Easter break
Tuesday 10th April: Easter break over, back to school


In other news...
Exhibition work is continuing this week, businesses should be up and running, people should be out selling and advertising posters and flyers should be finished.


Start dusting of your Henry V costume and practicing your Shakespearean English because soon we will be starting plays and play writing.

week in review

This week all of year 5 have been diving deep into their Exhibition projects. We have all been working hard to (hopefully) get each of our business up and running by the start of next week. The cakes group are starting to get big orders in  and have just filled a large order of 70 cupcakes this Thursday. Groups this week had to go down to Marilyn with their written business  proposal and apply for a 200:- loan from the International Bank of ISGR. Those who where able to explain the what, why and how of their business during their presentation and in their written proposal managed to get their loans no problem, some had to come back with some more information. A few groups have found that their start-up costs are going to be more than the 200:- they borrowed and they wondered if they could take 'donations' from their parents. If you find that your child or their group starts to ask for more start-up money or supplies, please don't just 'donate' it to them, instead make a deal for them to pay you back when they start to make money. This way they are learning and practicing economics and are learning how to control their own economy.

In other news, students are starting to finish the first of their maths assessment activities. Even though we have put aside our maths lessons to do this they still need to be working on them during their homework time if they are to be finished by the 30th of March.
